unfortunately, the ingredients in mainstream skincare, makeup, and personal care products haven’t gotten any better. I even think it’s EXTRA important for preteens and teens to avoid endocrine-disrupting ingredients because of their young developing bodies and fluctuating hormones!
not to mention…
🚨 shocking levels of lead and cadmium have been found in eye shadows for children [PMID 34771160]
🚨 the FDA found traces of asbestos in Claire’s makeup, a popular store for preteens and teens
🚨 teen girls have been found to use MORE products daily compared to adult women
🚨 a 2016 study tested urine samples of teenage girls before and after eliminating endocrine-disrupting products from their routine. not surprisingly, the chemical levels decreased significantly!
thankfully, there are plenty of clean brands nowadays to use instead 😎
